Is Navigate a bot service or real people?

Your employees will always chat directly with a real, live, human Navigator! While there are definitely some good use-cases for bots or AI in some scenarios, we have a team of trained clinical professionals who are on-call to chat with your employees.

How do employees use Navigate?

Our goal was to make using Navigate as easy, frictionless, and natural as possible. So we primarily interact by text message. Everyone can do it, there's nothing to install, and for young people, it's the most natural way to communicate. The other helpful factor with text messaging is that our conversations don't have to happen all at once, your employee can start chatting before work, continue on their break, and maybe wrap it up in the evening. No need for scheduled appointments, long waits, etc.

We can also chat back and forth by email!

How do employees get started?

Getting started with EAPs is often the hardest part. It's where many people get lost or frustrated and just give up. So making this as smooth and fast as possible was one of our focuses.

All your employees need to do is click a link, scan a QR code, or type in the phone number and send us a message. We'll reply to them and ask for their employee ID number. That's it! Once we've identified them, we can jump right into the conversation. No cumbersome registrations, logins, or waiting periods.

We had an EAP but no one used it. Will this be different?

We’ll work with your team to get you to great employee participation. We can work with your team to provide a communication plan, poster templates, new employee onboarding, and even the option to mass text your employees if you have their phone numbers already. And if you're already doing wellness checks with us, we've already got all their phone numbers!

We’ll also help provide training to your managers about how to spot and support employees who might be struggling. Through a partnership with the Jed Foundation, we can provide materials or even formalized training to your leadership team.

So is this therapy?

In short, no. We are not trying to replace an ongoing, clinical relationship with your employees. We're there to provide a confidential, supportive "ear". Sometimes all you need is someone to listen who won’t judge you, isn’t a parent or partner, and isn’t someone who works with you day to day. Our team is highly qualified and deeply ingrained in the hospitality industry and your workforce.

From there, we can help them access the best possible resources, whether it's through those provided to them by you, health insurance, local community entities, or our therapy partner, Talkspace.

What kind of support will people get?

Each employee gets individual guidance based on the conversation they have with our Navigator. Simply handing a list of resources to an employee in distress is useless. So our team puts together a simple, concise list of resources for each of your employees based on their situation, their location, and their specific needs. If we feel strongly that they need ongoing mental health services, we will help them navigate what they have access to or refer them to Talkspace.

Is this a suicide chat line?

No, we are not here to replace 911, the Suicide Prevention Hotline, the Crisis Text Line, or the new 988 hotline.

If we feel an employee might harm themselves or others, we will refer them to one of these resources or contact them ourselves.
